How does Fontanini scale size work?

Scale size refers to the proportional height of the human figures in a nativity set. For example, a 5 Inch Scale means an average adult figure (like Joseph or a shepherd) measures about 5 inches tall. All other figures and accessories in that scale such as animals, angels, children, even buildings, are crafted in matching proportions so they display naturally together.

Fontanini offers several scale sizes, the most popular being 5 Inch Scale, followed by larger displays such as 7.5 Inch, 12 Inch, 20 Inch, and beyond. To ensure harmony in your scene, always select pieces from the same scale. Mixing different scales may cause figures and structures to look mismatched in size.

How are Fontanini figures created and are they safe for families?

Each Fontanini figure is hand painted by skilled artisans in the village of Bagni di Lucca, Italy, some even paint them in their own homes, continuing traditions passed down for generations. For the most popular sizes, from 3.5 Inch to 12 Inch Scale, the figures are crafted from a durable, unbreakable polymer designed to last through years of handling and display. Every piece is finished with lead-free paint, making Fontanini figures safe for families and cherished by collectors of all ages.

Is the Baby Jesus removable from the manger?

Yes! In true Fontanini tradition, the Baby Jesus figure is always designed to be removable no matter the scale of the set.

Can Fontanini statues be displayed outdoors?

Yes. Fontanini figures sized 20 inches and larger are crafted from marble-based resin, making them suitable for outdoor display. Each piece is hand painted with lead-free acrylics, designed for durability and fine detail. While these figures can be placed outdoors, we recommend positioning them in a shaded area away from constant direct sunlight to prevent fading. For added protection, apply a UV-resistant clear coat spray periodically. Please note that normal wear and weathering may occur over time when exposed to outdoor elements.

We want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If you are not happy with your item, you may return it within 30 days of delivery. Original shipping charges are non-refundable, and customers are responsible for return shipping unless the item arrives damaged or defective.
